Hello everyone! December is here! Which means Christmas is right around the corner. The countdown has started! This time of year, I look forward to attending events, and seeing the sights that the area has to offer. This week I would like to highlight some of my favorite christmas light displays that contribute to the Scranton tradition.
The Times Tower
Ah, the Times Tower. No one in the area can say that the season is complete without it. The tower is lit up every year, usually the weekend after thanksgiving. It is 296 ft tall, and has 480 beautiful lights that all come together to bring in the Christmas season.
The Christmas Alley
The Christmas Alley is a lesser known must-see. It extends down the alley of the Christmas house on Moosic Street in Scranton. The alley is filled with original paintings and sets combined with holiday music! It really is a nostalgic experience for me to go through the alley every year.
The Peckville Christmas House
This little feature in Peckville has become the area’s Christmas claim to fame. Since it’s feature on The Great Christmas Light Fight in 2017, an extreme holiday decorating show, The Peckville Christmas house has become an attraction of it’s very own. This whole property is a work of art, with glow molds, cutouts, and most of all the lights.
Nay Aug Lights
Last but certainly not least we return to my own childhood favorite, Nay Aug Park. For Christmas they always have light displays all throughout the park to see as families drive through. These works feature a whole assortment of christmas characters ranging from a partridge in a pear tree to Santa himself.
I hope you all get a chance to see a few of these NEPA christmas staples this season, they’ll be gone before we know it! As always I highly recommend looking at all of these holiday traditions and joining in the fun!
