Painting Continues

Hello, if you kept up with my blog posts during the Spring of 2024, you would know that I was enrolled in Painting I in the Marywood University Art Department as part of my pursuit of the 2D Art degree with an emphasis in Illustration. That being said, for the Fall 2024 semester, I am immediately continuing my education with painting, in Painting II

Painting II

So far, Painting II is formatted similarly to Painting I. We as students are assigned in class projects that we have a couple sessions to complete. Some example of projects we will pursue in Painting II include but are not limited to: a still life assignment with a limited color palette, still life assignment with a full color palette, perspective, and potentially a self-portrait as our final project!

Despite only being five weeks into the semester, I have already learned so much! Something I struggle with is mixing colors traditionally. Digital art is my preferred medium; therefore, I am not too familiar with mixing colors. Nonetheless, in Painting II, my professor had a one on one lecture and demonstration with me. I found this very helpful and insightful.

First Assignment:

Still Life With Limited Color Palette:

Medium: Oil Painting on 16Γ—20 Canvas

Colors: Yellow Ocher, Raw Umber, Venetian Red, Ultramarine Blue, and White.

WRAP-UP:

Overall, Painting II has me excited for the Fall 2024 semester. Furthermore, I cannot wait to continue to enhance my skills, abilities, and knowledge with painting!

Stay Spooky, Santo πŸŽƒ
