I was recently offered an opportunity to exhibit my artwork through the gallery I intern at, Pink Arrow Arts in Montrose, PA, in October of this year!
This will be my first ever exhibition, hopefully not the last haha, and I’m super excited for it! I’ll write more about the process as it happens/as the date gets closer, but for now I’m just prepping new art.
I’m not too happy with most of the pieces I’ve made from January-December 2025, so I think I can make much stronger pieces (and ones with actual backgrounds) now. I have 4-5 pieces from 2025 in mind to show, and between now and October I plan on making ~12 more.
This past weekend I finished part 1 of 3 for a new series, and as long as nothing about my workload/schedule changes in February I’ll be able to finish all 3.
Below is the first part: “I WISH YOUR HOUSE WAS REAL,” 22 x 30” pencil on paper.
I really wanted to push myself with this piece, I plan to move past self-portraits once this series is over and wanted this to be a “last goodbye” of sorts. I have never done a background like this before and it was certainly challenging. But I’m super happy with how it came out. I still have some minor adjustments to make in some areas but after ~80 or so hours I can finally say it’s done!
And the next 2 pieces shouldn’t take nearly as long, they’re much less detailed and don’t have a million tiles I need to individually render. I seriously have no idea why I keep drawing tiles when it’s absolutely my least favorite thing to draw (tied with still lifes.)
I’ll be writing about this a lot more as the October date approaches and giving a much more detailed “insider” view as to how an exhibit gets compiled from start to finish!
~Thanks. Ana.
