Currently in the Maslow Gallery located in the lobby of the Shields Center for Visual Arts at Marywood University in Scranton, Pennsylvania, there is an exhibit happening that includes work containing a general theme based around structure, both physically and compositionally.

Mark Webber, Art History Instructor, was a co-curator who helped put together the exhibition. He mentions how he wanted to select artworks that would spark conversations amongst his students in both of his art history classes.

For me personally, I’m usually not the largest fan of contemporary artwork, but the pieces in this gallery were different. The use of lines and colors was extremely interesting and really drew me in. There aren’t many works on display, but they each have the general theme of architecture. This theme focuses heavily on shape and form, which also connects with balance and to “obscured artifacts.”
All of the artwork featured in the gallery is fascinating and interesting, and it demonstrates that a lot of thought was put into the curation of the exhibit.
Additional information about the exhibit will be shared in a post after I have a conversation with Mark, so stay tuned for that!
Overall, the exhibit runs until March 19, 2025, so I highly suggest checking it.
