Hi everyone! As promised, this week I have some pictures of my ceramics from the last kiln unloading of the semester. I took pictures in the same place as I did last year, so they’re consistent when I post them on Etsy. I definitely want to take pictures with a white background as well, but these are great for now. I don’t have pictures of everything because I couldn’t take it all home with me, but I have the majority! I’ll show you some of my favorites!
This is the first piece! The final result of my jewelry holder lighthouse. I love it! I’m probably not selling this one because it has some cracks, but I’m happy to keep it! I think it’s adorable, and I’m definitely interested in trying to do something like this again.
Funny enough, I’m also keeping this piece! I love this bowl so much. From the second I threw it, I knew I was keeping it for myself! It’s a really great size, almost like a ramen bowl. The glaze also turned out super interesting!
This next piece is actually a failed lighthouse base, but I wanted to salvage it, so I turned it into a sort of vase. It’s hard to tell from this picture, but the rim is actually squared in, so from the top the piece looks square, but from the bottom it looks circular. This was a super simple adjustment, but I think it looks so interesting. I want to try doing that again next semester!
This piece might look familiar because I’ve done the same thing before, but with different colors! For some reason, a sandollar design will always do it for me. I think they’re super recognizable and scream beachy vibes. I tried to take a break from them last semester, but I failed! I’m going to bring them back into my work next semester because I really do love them.
This piece is also one I wanted to keep for myself, but I’m not! I love the subtle curve with the solid foot on the bottom. It’s a really subtle shape, but I loved it. I decided I wanted to make more of them next semester, so I’m not keeping it. I’ll just have to think of ideas for glazing them!
Finally, this is one of three other pieces with this design. I also made spoon rests that have this sandollar mark, and they’re super cute, but this trinket dish turned out the best. I found a different way to make the sandollar than I did with my first sandollar pieces, and I think it looks much better. I’m excited to see how these look with the white clay next semester!
So, that’s a short recap of the remaining pieces I didn’t get to show you all! There are previous blog updates with some of my favorite pieces, so if you missed them, you should check them out! I’m super excited for what’s yet to come next year. Switching to white cone 06 clay will expand my options infinitely, so I’ve already been writing down my ideas! I have lots of exciting things coming that I can’t wait to share with you all. Stay tuned! Thank you so much for reading, and stay creative!
