NY Art Trail

This past weekend, I had the privilege of participating in the Broome County Art Trail at the Town of Maine location. The event showcased the work of 12 talented artists, each representing a variety of disciplines including painting, photography, pottery, weaving, and woodworking. Among the painters were Richard Henry, Suzanne Wirth, Ken Weir, Linda Austin, Sue Gottlieb, Mary Jane Sieczkos, Wendall Gallager, Ken Rozek, and myself. In addition to her paintings, Suzanne Wirth, along with Phil Childs, contributed stunning photographic works. Artists Susan Szczotka and Bernd Krause displayed not only their intricate weavings but also Szczotka’s pottery and Krause’s beautifully crafted wooden string instruments. Each artist brought something truly unique, making this location a hub of creativity, rich with diverse experiences and perspectives.

As a first-time participant, this event was both eye-opening and inspiring. Meeting seasoned artists, each with their own distinct artistic journey, has been an invaluable experience. Their passion for their craft is palpable, and I’ve picked up new techniques in pottery and painting that I might not have discovered otherwise. More than just a learning opportunity, this event has given me deeper insight into the world of displaying art. I’ve gained hands-on skills like framing and hanging my pieces, as well as how to effectively label and present them to viewers. Most importantly, I’ve grown more confident in speaking about my work, allowing me to connect with the audience on a more personal level. The experience has truly been transformative and will continue to influence my artistic growth moving forward.
