Paint Practice with a Duck

I painted a duck! It was very fun. 🙂

The end.

Only kidding! To start I had picked this reference picture from The Australian Museums’ website, specifically the page about Mallards.

I ended up making the final composition focus on the head of the duck because I loved how the shadows on the green looked and felt it would be a nice challenge to paint!

The line art stage! I’m trying to do more with ink because I am not the biggest fan of doing line art, so I take that fact about myself and use it as a challenge! I’ve been having more fun with it since trying dip pens.

The final watercolor painting! I avoided doing too much with the water so I could keep focus on the duck and his details, and I kept the cat with mostly flat colors so he’d pop out in his own way!

I hope everyone’s having a fun summer break so far!

See you next week!
