In Character Design class this previous week, we learned about the ways you can use shapes to tell a story about who your character is on first glance!
Circles are seen as friendly, squares are rigid and sturdy, and triangles are sharp and dangerous, which is my extremely bare bones way of explaining the most basic idea of how to use the shapes! You of course can break these rules and mix and match all the shapes while designing your characters, but shape language really helps with exploring new ways to design characters!!
For an assignment, we had to pick a profession and design three characters based off of the profession and using the three shapes as an inspiration.
My three librarians! I had a lot of fun working on these.
I also thought it would be fun to try and doodle a scene using only the silhouettes with some small details!
Overall it is definitely something I’ll keep in mind while I design future characters!
I hope everyones having a wonderful week!
