Continuation of Stormy Day (3)

A few months ago I completed this painting:Stormy DayJust as I mentioned in my “Something Old, Something New” post, I decided to paint over a few of my older paintings that I had no real connection to. This canvas happens to be another I painted over as well! To be honest, I had no concept developed prior. I simply started with applying my color and going from there. I started with blue because it is my favorite color and my go-to color, sometimes without even realizing! I soon began to see a body of water brewing and decided to create a stormy day enclosed by some darkness.

Once I finished with my painting, I examined what I created and decided it needed something else. GLITTER. For those who may not know, I have a slight obsession with glitter, I only added it when necessary of course! But, the water definitely called for some glitter to make it sparkle! I worked with oil paint so this last minute decision to add glitter worked out perfectly since the paint was not dried yet. Soon after, I made the decision to continue painting. This decision lead me to create these two paintings as well all in the same night:

Continuation of Stormy Day (3)

For these two, I painted over my older paintings as well and used oil paint and glitter again. At this point, I decided to create a continuation of color. I wanted the colors to move from one canvas to the next but this time adding one additional color, yellow. After I finished these two, I stopped for the night. And, it was not until this past Friday when I added this fourth painting:

I decided to start the painting the same way I started the first painting but worked with more yellow than black this time. The idea was a storm clearing. The painting is not as dark as the first but light and pleasant. Again, I worked with oil paint and glitter but this time on a fresh canvas.

When I look at all four pieces together, I am not sure how I feel. Apart of me still feels something is missing, something needs to be fixed. Arrangement is another big question. I am still deciding and working with different placements. As of now I have four paintings but I will see what the future holds for them, will I keep the four? Will I add another? Will I add five more? Will I add a different color in? At this point in time, I am not finished, this set is a mystery.
