Color Grading

For this week’s blog, I wanted to play around with color grading my photographs. I rarely use color grading, so I wanted to experiment with it more. The photos that I used for this experiment are from Nay Aug Park in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

With this set of images, I wanted to make it subtle with the colors, I didn’t want them to seem too unnatural. I did all of these on Lightroom Classic, and I did my usual editing at first. I then went to the color grading panel and had some fun. I experimented with many colors until I was happy with the results.

As I’ve mentioned before, I have a hard time expressing color in my work because I’m worried it will stand out awkwardly. Also, because the photos I usually take, I can’t play around with the colors, such as in photojournalism. I’ve been having a lot of fun over the summer playing around with color more. It lets me think more creatively with my editing, and I can express myself more.
