Last weekend my family and I went to Washington D.C. for a family wedding. Before the wedding we decided to go sightseeing so this was the perfect opportunity for me to take some pictures. This was my first time ever going to D.C. so I was very excited to take a look around and see some famous monuments.
Even though most of the photos I took were architectural or people, it was still a fun experience to see. My favorite part of the trip was seeing the White House in person. I’m so used to seeing pictures of it so seeing it in real life was surreal. If I had more time in D.C. I would’ve loved to explore more of the other popular monuments there. Those monuments include the White House, the Capital, and the Washington Monument Post. Where my hotel was I was able to see these monuments from standing outside so it was really cool to be surrounded by them.
In these next photos I was fascinated with the lights in the hotel and wanted to capture them. To take these photos I would line myself up with the center of the light and stand under it. When editing them I would then use the crop setting in Lightroom Classic and align it with the lines so it would be perfectly straight. For the photo on the right I color graded it to make it more moody and dramatic.
Thanks for coming along on my journey on Washington D.C.! Have you been to Washington D.C. before? And if so, what is your favorite place to see?
