This week I got to do two of my favorite summertime activities at once: go down to D.C. for the day and check out some sweet murals while I’m at it!! I also got to check out the Union Market for the first time which has been on my bucket list for a while. It was a pretty fun experience, and I had no idea what to expect. The area around Union Market is a bit rundown and there was a lot of construction so when I walked inside and saw such a modern and artsy setup I was very pleasantly surprised. It was like I was in a completely different world while in there. The building itself seemed like a giant warehouse, and then when you walk inside its nothing but cute, little, modern shops and food stops set up. My favorite parts were checking out all the little cactuses and plants at the store, Little Leaf. I also got some really stellar food while I was there, including this unicorn toast for three dollars that I just couldn’t pass up.
The main reason why my friends and I decided to take the trip down to the Union Market was because we had seen a lot of cool photos of the murals on the outside of the building! Surprisingly, the murals weren’t the easiest to find. Once we walked past the cute outdoor seating with some brightly painted picnic tables, we turned the corner and finally found the murals we were looking for. I love the splattered and messy look of the words and hearts, and the murals made for the perfect backdrop. They were definitely a popular spot for taking photos in front of. I had such a fun day eating some awesome food and checking out some murals which I always love. I will totally be back at the Union Market soon for another visit.
