T-Shirt Contest

tshirt

Recently in my Introduction to Graphic Design class we came up with designs to enter in a Student T-shirt design contest. For the contest there were three different themes that we could base the T-shirt off of:

Coming up with an idea for this contest was difficult, I had a lot of trouble trying to come up with a visualization for the words Authentic, Sustainable, and Innovative. But eventually I was able to come up with a concept by combining two symbols that I associated with the concept of innovation. When I think of innovation one of the first things I think about is the lightbulb. The lightbulb was a pivotal invention that changed the way society functioned, it led to longer workdays, safer conditions and the rise of industries. Another innovation that comes to mind is the hot air balloon. The hot air balloon was one of the first ventures into aviation that demonstrated controlled, manned flight, paving the way for future aviation advancements and inspiring exploration and scientific research. I wanted the design to be graphic and bold, and easily recognizable at a glance.

In the end I really loved the way the design turned out, but unfortunately I didn’t realize until after my submission that I had spelled the word innovation wrong! I’ve always struggled with spelling and have been wanting to get myself screened for dyslexia so I’ve tried to be vigilant about checking spelling but occasionally things slip through the cracks. Luckily I was able to just fix the mistake and turn it in again. But this project was definitely a great reminder for myself to stay aware of my weaknesses and stay vigilant in doublechecking for them!

Thank you for reading!
