Trying Different Mediums

In my Typography class this fall, we got the opportunity to create some artworks using a printing press in the Art Department’s Printmaking Studio run by Professor Christine Medley! This isn’t my first time using one, but it had been quite a bit and it is most certainly something I have lots of fun with!

For the works, we each got a fortune cookie and, with said fortune picked out, our typefaces, of which there were metal and wooden ones, and we print them on our sheets of paper! The whole process is super fun to me from picking what type to use, to arranging it, to the stamping itself!

If you couldn’t tell I have a lot of fun messing with different types of art, I think that doing this opens up your world to what art means to you because it doesn’t just have to be one single thing! I also think its important to not be hard on oneself while learning, because any mistakes along the way can be new lessons learned for your future works.

I hope you all have a happy holidays!
