I chose Marywood because many, many family members of mine have attended Marywood University. I’ve heard nothing but raving reviews from them since I was five years old. Which meant for the past fourteen years I’ve had high expectations of this school. Marywood did not fail to meet those expectations. Thankfully. This was also the only college I applied to, I did not have a backup plan.
I am majoring in Art because I’m about to make a bold statement: I have never, in my life, loved anything more than art. I love everything about it, from creating it myself to hearing others talk about their experiences. I can’t imagine myself doing anything else.
When I’m not in class, I’m usually drawing or reading. Those two things have become pretty much my only hobbies outside of classes and school work.
So far, my favorite art class at Marywood was Computer Architecture. I love electrical engineering and I got to mess around with different types of hardware and software in that class that I usually wouldn’t have a chance to learn about or get my hands on.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was to have the opportunities to go on trips to art museums and see a lot of the art my professors talked about during classes.
When I graduate I plan to get my MFA, hopefully get a job doing gallery work, and still have time to work on personal projects.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the classes are small enough that you get a more personal connection with your professors and classmates. All the professors I’ve had here have been extremely knowledgeable in their subjects and have helped me gain so many opportunities I wouldn’t have the chance to experience on my own.
