I chose Marywood because I liked the atmosphere and it’s close to home. My mom also went to Marywood for art and when I told her I was considering it, she told me I would like it. When I came to my first open house, I immediately knew that I wanted to come here. The campus is beautiful, especially in fall, and I love the art building.
I am majoring in Art because I enjoy making art that makes people happy to look at, including myself. I love making cute illustrations and character designs that want to make someone (mainly myself) go “Awww.” I started taking a serious interest in art in 2020 and knew that it was something I wanted to do as a career.
When I’m not in class, I can usually be found in Naz (Nazareth Student Union) talking with my friends, in my room drawing and watching anime, or reading manhwa. I also enjoy sometimes walking around the surrounding area.
So far, my favorite art class at Marywood was Art History I. I have loved learning about the evolution of art throughout history and different techniques that were created.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was researching the cryptids that appear around Marywood. I worked with friends to capture live evidence of creatures that would give the average person a fright.
When I graduate, I plan to find a job as either a character designer or an animator. I love making my own character designs and nothing would make me happier than designing characters for a media that one day becomes popular. I also enjoy making 3D animations and would love to work on the model rigging for animation studios.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the faculty are super kind and helpful with the advice they offer. The art building is just amazing to look at and is my favorite building on campus.
