I chose Marywood University for its welcoming community, opportunities, and proximity to home. As a student who was initially undecided in my major, Marywood gave me the sense of security I was looking for when searching for a college that would help me find my path. Additionally, I have family members who are alumni that had great experiences and job opportunities, which further solidified my decision.

I am majoring in the Arts because because it deeply resonates with my soul and gives me fulfillment. I promised myself I would never settle for a career path that didn’t align with my passions. When I started at Marywood, I was undecided and struggled to find a clear path. After some trial and error with different majors and career options, I ultimately found that art was the best fit for me—a path I was already very familiar with. Art and communications brings me comfort, escape, and freedom, making me feel alive and confirming that it’s the right path for me.”

When I’m not in class, I’m either at a photo shoot for a client, editing photos, thrifting for good finds, at the gym, coaching little league, swimming, or listening to a podcast.

So far, my favorite art class at Marywood has been my Studio Production class as part of my Multimedia Communications major. This class gave me a taste of what it would be like to be behind the scenes on a TV production, Film Set, or new station broadcast, which fuels my excitement for my future. I was always so excited to learn and interact with the equipment on the set and took every opportunity I could to be as creative as possible.

The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was being part of the Film Club’s upcoming production. I absolutely love all things cameras, and I’m very excited to start as a camera operator for the club’s film. As a photographer, I’ve had plenty of opportunities to take pictures of events on campus, but cinematography is something new I’m exploring, and it has brought me so much excitement. From the little exposure I’ve had so far, it has truly been the coolest thing Marywood has brought my way.

When I graduate, I want to grow my photography business by opening a studio and adding videography services. I’m planning to focus my photography on weddings, portraits, product shots, and fashion.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because of the number of opportunities it provides to students. From networking to practical learning experiences, I feel like I’m truly building a solid foundation for a successful career. The support I’ve received in choosing this path has been amazing too.
