Chaos Packaging Project

Hi, everyone! This week, I am going to be talking about my latest Packaging Design project, which is about chaos packaging. Chaos packaging is a marketing trend that intentionally uses unconventional, disruptive packaging to make products stand out on shelves. One of the better-known examples is the new Whipped Sunscreen by Vacation.

For my design, I was thinking of doing something that involved cans somehow, and I thought it would be a perfect idea to use candles as my product. So, putting those two ideas together, I came up with Soda Can-dles, which would be candles based on popular soda flavors. For my flavors, I chose Orange Cream, Vanilla Cashmere, and Cherry Cola, and then I based the color scheme of each label on the flavor. I only had to do one design for this project, but I thought it would be better to do three for a more complete set.

To mock up my design, I bought soda can-shaped glass tumblers off Amazon to help sell the idea of them being soda cans. The glasses came with bamboo lids, so I painted them to match the colors of the designs for a more finished look. To also further the theme of soda cans, I made a soda can tab label to put on the lids of the glasses. I thought about actually making candles in the glasses for my final result, but that would have taken way too long. Instead, I am planning on making paper candles with battery-powered tea lights to give the illusion of a candle. I put the labels on the glasses last week, but I still have to mock up the candle part, so unfortunately, I do not have pictures of my final products.

This was one of my favorite projects, and I am very excited to see what everyone else came up with. Maybe in my next post, I can include some pictures of my final products for anyone who is interested in seeing how they turned out. I hope everyone is having a great week, and Happy Easter!

Thanks for reading!
