Merry Post-Christmas and a Pre-New Year!
I’ve come to share some off-campus news of me… making presents… off campus. Being an artist during holidays and celebrations is great! So many more options for presents.
The first present I focused on was a portrait of my friend’s dog who passed away earlier this year. His name was Dunkin and he was such a cutie. He would always greet house guests and give them huge kissies. I chose to mimic this photo because he looks so adorable. I completed it using graphite/pencil. I left most of my art supplies at school over break so I had limited options. But it turned out okay!

The next gift was for my boyfriend. He tends to like shirts with cool designs on them so I wanted to bleach him a shirt. I asked him months ago some of his favorite Greek figures. I somewhat forgot his answers but I settled with Atlas. I tried to choose a figure he hadn’t drawn before but it turns out he had already drawn him. Regardless, I sketched out a digital plan and went to town. I made three vague dilutions of bleach. AKA, I didn’t measure. I just kinda poured them in and hoped. I sort of made an 80/20, 70/30, and 50/50 mixture. My dog kept waddling over to my work area. I had mistakenly chosen to do it on the floor and he repeatedly stepped on the shirt and came dangerously close to my cups of bleach. Thankfully he did not ingest any AND the shirt came out decently. I’d definitely like to do this again sometime. It’s really fun and I’d recommend trying it out if you haven’t.

My final gift was making stickers!! I got this idea from my classmate, Esther. You take a piece of parchment paper and lay packing tape on top. Then you place your cut-out sticker on top of the packing tape and lay another piece of tape on top. Once you cut it out, you have a sticker! Yay!
I made some Chiikawa stickers and some silly ones for me and my partner. They’re actually really fun and easy to make!

I also made some silly foam crafts with my partner too. The kind you’d get in like elementary school. Just be careful with the hot glue gun! I accidently burned up some of my skin – ouch.
Happy Holidays and stay safe!
