Everyday Beauty

I have been enjoying most of my time this summer break in nature taking in the beautiful scenery surrounding Northeastern Pennsylvania. Ever since I moved to Scranton, PA, I could not help but feel an immense sense of appreciation for the greenery and wildlife local to the area, and I especially love to stop and admire the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises that always have saturated colors and fluffy clouds painting the sky. Each time I catch myself admiring an aesthetically pleasing view, I habitually being to start scrambling for my phone to capture the fleeting moment in a photo. Despite my camera of choice being an Iphone 13 with a roughed up camera lens, I really love how some of the pictures I took came out. I have also taken these images into Adobe Photoshop to make some adjustments, such as color corrections and removing tiny imperfections to enhance the final photo.

I enjoy taking the time to stop and snap a photo of normal things that I find beautiful.

For this final photo, I decided to completely remove the power lines and glares, as well as cropping the photo to accentuate the focal point, which is the moon and cloud. I really wanted to improve the quality of this photo as I feel my phone’s camera just could not capture just how gorgeous this view was in person. The moon’s light had cast a really pretty rainbow halo that was shining through this single cloud in the sky.

I started by removing the power lines using the clone stamp tool in Photoshop. Then, I used the spot healing tool to smooth out the edges of the areas that have been clone stamped. After that, I used the smudge tool to blend the colors and pixelated areas to create a smooth sky. Finally for some finishing touches I adjusted the contrast and lowered the brightness to highlight the clouds and slightly increased the size of the house to crop the photo smaller. I enjoyed practicing my Photoshop skills, and believe the final version below looks much cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing!

Here’s a side by side comparison:
