I always really like when my art can be used as functional things. When art is functional it’s easier to have it present in all aspects of your life. Art can be functional as clothes, plant pots, cups, bowls, coasters, etc.

I have a number of pieces that are functional. I’ve made a great deal of ceramics that can be used as pots, bowls, cups, mugs, and plates. I use a lot of the bowls/cups to hold coins, brushes, tools and many other things. I have a plant in one of my pots and plan to make more plots for more plants.

I also have my art on some different clothes. I’ve embroidered a sweater, a skirt, and a pair of sneakers. I’ve also painted a pair of sneakers. I also plan on making more things involving clothes to customize them for myself or even eventually making some from scratch.

I’ve also a set of 4 coasters, one for myself and each of my brothers. I’ve done a number of paintings to use as decorations for my different spaces. I am also currently working on refurbishing an older antique bag that I will be able to use at some point once it’s finished.

There are so many ways an art piece can be functional and used regularly. Being able to use my art regularly makes me very happy. If I’m able to use things regularly I know that the piece was successful; it’s something I find beautiful and being able to use it means it functions in the way I had intended. I can fill my life with beauty without having to feel like things are cluttered.
