In this week’s off-campus art news, I’d like to talk about a personal interest:
I really like horses.
Horses are amazing animals. They are extraordinarily powerful and dangerous creatures, yet they have the capacity to be sweet and dopey. I quite like the dopey side.
There’s this nice set of artworks by user @lleyksie on Instagram showing horses of many shapes. They are almost apple-like in nature. I like them so much!!!!
Or look at these absolutely rotund horses by user @louie.zong on Instagram.
Perhaps even glance at this one by user @maria.melart! It’s so magical and distant, like a dream fading after you wake up.
To summarize again, I like horses. I really enjoy the diversity of how they’re depicted and seen.
When you think back historically on horses, you imagine leaders like Napoleon riding them valiantly as they faced conflicts. They neigh’d with all their might and charged fearlessly into war.
When I see horses now, aka when I open up Instagram, I see a different side. I see horses that get to choose between two pieces of candy. And once the little fella has finished sucking on one, he gets the other anyway ‘cus he’s such a cute horse.
Cute little videos of them being annoyed by their owners in innocent ways.
Overall I would recommend indulging in some horse. Draw horses, watch horses, bet on horses –. If you’ve never done it, I also recommend riding horses.
I’d also like to note that episode 1 of JOJO’s Bizarre Adventure Part 7: Steel Ball Run released this past Thursday. It features a country-wide horserace that ends up getting pretty bizarre! So if you like horses I also think you may like that.
