Hello and welcome back! So, last week we took a break from the Brooklyn Museum to talk about my observations, but this week we are heading back to look at another work I discovered and want to share! For those of you who don’t remember, I visited the Brooklyn Museum early in January and I got to see so many incredible works. Today I wanted to talk about a painting called “Meadow Flowers” by John Henry Twachtman.
I remember when I first saw this painting I was so impressed by it. I stood there for a long time admiring it because I found it so beautiful how soft it looked. The technique of the brushstrokes give the painting such a wistful and calm feeling. Even though it is an abstract piece it is so well done that you can still tell the what the subject is meant to be. I’m really glad I was able to see this painting in person because it was such a wonderful experience.

After doing some research I learned that the artist, John Henry Twachtman, was an impressionist painter best known for his landscapes. He is considered to be an experimental artist of his generation as most painters of the time painted realism. Twachtman lived in the countryside which is what he mostly based his paintings off of. This is another I love about his work, the beautiful nature scenes of the real countryside.
I hope you guys enjoyed this piece as much as I did! See you all next time. Thanks!
Marissa
