Ok, so recently I have been looking at Cartoon Network’s Instagram page, and I saw the announcement for Regular Show: The Lost Tapes, and I must say I am so hyped for it.
For those who may not know, Regular Show is a cartoon following the daily lives of two best friends, Mordecai and Rigby. This show is anything but regular, and that is what captivated most audiences, especially me when I was little. From the beginning, the show’s creator J.G Quintel has been very adamant about how he wanted the show to go. To be honest, I am surprised that it even landed on Cartoon Network rather than Adult Swim, considering some jokes and scenes are meant for much more mature audiences. But my best guess is that this is aimed towards teenagers, and now with the show’s return, it might steer into a more young adult direction rather than what they worked with before.

One of my favorite characters in the show was Eileen, mostly because I resonated with her in certain ways, and the fact that she is also a college student, lol. When we first meet her, she is a shy girl who wants the affection of Rigby, but to be honest, the thing that made her my favorite character is her way of thinking and how, even though she may not be flashy whatsoever, she still brings the spotlight to herself in the show. She is mainly responsible for changing Rigby’s character herself, before she even met him. Rigby was mostly pretty much a jerk and did not want to improve himself. But then she came along, and he started changing for her and himself. I think this is a great example of writing a character, especially one who wants to improve for the better, after all, Rigby only needed Eileen to finally realize what is wrong with himself.
But enough about character depth, I know some of you guys may have noticed the subtle animation changes, too, which is not bad whatsoever. I don’t have a problem with it; mainly, people on the internet do. What they should be grateful for is that they are not changing the ending, the art stays the same, and the original creator will be in charge of everything. I personally cannot wait to see this new show and how the jokes will probably remain the same. I hope you all enjoy Regular Show: The Lost Tapes on May 11, 2026. Stay tuned for more!
