This semester, I wrap up all of my required courses as a senior art major at Marywood University; including non-art General Education courses! Specifically, I am taking my last required history and science credits. For my science course, I decided to take Introduction to Meteorology with Joe Snedeker. For extra credit, he has allowed us to make any project we would like, as long as it is directly related to the course (and with his prior approval). Of course, I saw this as an opportunity to apply the skills I’ve gained from my major to a non-art course.
Recently, we have been learning about low pressure systems and what the weather would look like within these areas. Typically, low pressure is the perfect environment for a storm to form. So, I decided to paint just that! Something I have really learned I love painting is landscapes, so I figured I could paint a stormy landscape for this project.

Honestly, I’m pretty happy with how this side project turned out. Watercolor is a really relaxing medium for me, so it was nice to decompress for a little bit amidst the chaos of other classes and planning for the senior exhibit!
