Hello readers! Its… Sephora! Once again I give you content! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving day/break, enjoyed time with your loved ones, and ate some good food! I know I did!
Today I’m featuring a student who makes wonderful expressive, realistic, illustrations of people! She is extremely talented and I hope you all are wowed by her work!
So let me introduce you all to…
Kaelin Alicea!
A freshman Graphic Design major, Kaelin illustrates expressive realistic portraits!
Major: Graphic Design
Minor: Business
Graduation Year: 2027
I am majoring in Art because…
I have loved art all my life and knew I wanted to make it my life’s work. The feeling of stepping back and admiring your work after hours and hours put into it is the most rewarding feeling ever. I chose graphic design because I want to learn an art skill that I can apply to this fast-paced technological society that is being created.
The kinds of things that inspire me are…
Hard work inspires me. I have always admired my mom because of how much work she puts into her business and I strive to be as driven as her. I also enjoy viewing other people’s work because I understand how much time is put into a single piece. After going to an exhibition or a gallery I immediately want to go back to my drawing desk and start a new project.
My art favorite class so far was…
My favorite art class so far is Intro to Typography because it has really challenged me. I am new to a lot of programs so using them has been a learning curve. I am getting the hang of it so the projects have been fun to do. The atmosphere in the class is extremely welcoming and everyone wants to help each other.
When I am not in class…
When I am not in class I am usually working on projects, but I also enjoy going to the gym and Irish step dancing. I go to competitions for my dance at least once a month. A hobby of mine is crocheting. I also like playing with my cats and taking care of my fish.
The coolest thing I have done at Marywood so far was…
The coolest thing I have done at Marywood is light painting with the photography club, the Shutterbugs. Light painting is drawing in the dark with a flashlight while a camera is on a slow shutter speed so it captures the entire drawing.
When I graduate…
When I graduate I want to go into the workforce. I would like to work with a company where I have room to grow and possibly move up. I would like to go into the advertising side of design and marketing for companies. I would also like to have my own business after I have gained experience in the field.
I would recommend the Art program at Marywood because…
I would recommend the Art program at Marywood because it is an extremely welcoming environment. All of the staff are friendly and are there to help with anything you may need. They truly want the best for every single student.
What excites me most about Art is…
Everything about art is exciting to me. Art is everywhere we look. Anyone can create art whether it’s drawing, writing, or even baking. It is a calming activity that gives your mind the opportunity to explore itself.
Bonus Question! If your life was a book, what would be the title?
Living Creatively!
Here is some wonderful artwork from Kaelin!
Kaelin truly lives creatively, which is something all of us should do whether we are professionals, beginners, or hobbyists! It is important to see the world as a place we can draw inspiration from and adore!
I hope you all enjoyed today’s Student Spotlight, I certainly enjoyed writing it as always! Thank you for reading!
