TALIJAN

In this issue of your bi-weekly, off-campus art news, I wanted to touch on an artist that means a lot to me.

His name is Jacob Talijan and he’s my wonderful partner. He’s amazing at everything he does, but his pen and ink drawings especially capture my heart. Recently, he finished a piece for one of his classes surrounding the story of Odysseus from Homer’s The Odyssey. And I must say, it is stunning!!

I adore the way he draws faces and muscles. There’s this feeling I get when looking at certain art pieces that evoke true feelings of life. Like the subject I’m looking at could really move and speak. I feel that way with his art.

Seeing his process is also so nice. He puts so much care and thought into what he does. It’s so admirable and it’s wonderful to be able to share the joys of art with someone that I love. Being able to relax with someone by doodling and sketching is a blessing.

For one of Jacob’s classes at Northampton Community College (NCC), he’s been in the process of creating four pieces to display at an exhibition. The first of these pieces is a painting surrounding the punishment of Prometheus. I love his bold form and sullen face! It’s so cool.

Next he created a piece based on the story of St. Christopher. His use of lines surrounding Jesus Christ creates interesting eye-movement throughout the piece that really elevates it.

He’ll be creating a fourth piece very soon and I am so excited to see how it turns out! And the most recent piece about Odysseus is so beautiful. I love Jacob’s depictions of the monsters and how dynamic it feels.

I really recommend checking out his account. He deserves so much love and support.
