The Art of Perfect Blue

So lately I have been doing a lot of binge-watching (especially movies), and I must say this one, Perfect Blue, is completely great in its art, but also in how creepy it can get. To get a good idea of what this movie is about, it’s about a pop singer who, due to her age she thinks she should become an actress, and when that happens, her mind starts to spiral over several murders that happen around her. Now I won’t spoil the movie here (sorry), I would love for you guys to enjoy it yourselves and for you all to see the big plot twist (dun dun DUN), but yeah, I wanted to talk about the art style this movie brings out.

The color scheme throughout the movie suggests what the main character is going through, especially through the symbolism she encounters in each scene. The blue represents her sadness, the red her anger, and the white her purity. Honestly, I am sorry this blog post is short, but there is so much more I want to talk about this movie without spoiling it LOL. But I hope you all enjoy it as much as I have, because this movie will leave you confused, as if you are the main character going through each event in her life. Well, I hope to see y’all next time. Stay tuned for more!
