To be completely honest, I never expected for typography to be a course required for my major. Usually when I think of typography, my mind goes to English class, writing essays, and signatures. I never even considered the art behind typography.
As someone in Marywood University’s Art Department majoring in illustration, I am required to take an Introduction to Typography course. That being said, for the Fall 2024 semester, this class opened my eyes to the vitality of art and design in typography and how, being an illustrator, it is important to understand typography. So far, I have had the opportunity to enhance my knowledge through various different projects and exercises.
