Kneading Together My Knowledge:

Hello, so far, with my illustration major at Marywood University, I have pursued a variety of different art courses in the Marywood University Art Department. Ranging from drawing & general illustration to graphic design & typography, I am filling my creative toolbox as I continue to build my knowledge and identity. That said, in my recent Digital Illustration class assignment, I utilized a variety of different skills and tools from my artistic arsenal.

HEADLIGHTS:

In case you are not already familiar, the overarching project we are fulfilling in my Digital Illustration class is creating our own original story concept. In a nutshell, as a passionate horror fanatic, I am creating a horror video game titled HEADLIGHTS. This game features the Deer Demon as he devours the small town of Chestnut with his herd of Dead Doe. It is up to the main protagonist duo (Bruce & Buster) to stop the Deer Demon before his demonic powers spread outside the town and to avenge the death of Bruce’s mom.

Video Game Cover Concept:

The next part of our project was to design and illustrate either a poster, cover, or point of purchase. I chose to create a game cover for my assignment. Creating a game cover would allow me to seamlessly incorporate various aspects of my past assignments into one cohesive design. That said, this project would require me to utilize various different tools in my creative toolbox: Typography for my title, illustration with the artwork for the cover, and graphic design to size and formulate my composition.

HEADLIGHTS Video Game Cover Concept:

Created in Sketchbook Pro, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Photoshop.

WRAP UP:

Overall, I am very pleased with my final piece, and it was a great and fulfilling experience to have the opportunity to utilize multiple tools and my newfound artistic knowledge. So far, I have learned so much during my time in Marywood University’s Art Department, and I am excited to see what my creative future holds!
