Blogger Role: Painting

Major: Painting

I chose Marywood because I really love the individual attention that I receive from professors. They really want you to learn and succeed in your classes and will spend time with you individually to help you both in and out of the classroom. I have gotten personalized feedback from them that shows how much they have thought about your essay/art work/quiz.

I am majoring in Art because it has always been something that I enjoyed doing. I find it both challenging and simple. I really got into art my junior year of high school and was propelled forward into the field by my art teacher. I’m hoping to come out of Marywood and get a job doing something I love.

When I’m not in class, I’m sketching and painting, rewatching my favorite movies, and sleeping in a million blankets.

My favorite art class so far is Painting, and good thing because it’s my major. It was fun learning how to work with oils. I also enjoyed 3D Design class too. That was really interesting working with different materials like plaster and iron.

The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was participate in an ironworks class that Marywood puts on for high school students but is available to Marywood students. I got to make a plaque of my own design and it was really interesting to apart of the iron pouring process.

When I graduate I don’t really know what I want to do yet, but hopefully will involve art. The whole point of coming to Marywood is to learn more about my field and find opportunities for a career.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the faculty are not only amazing but they also are completely focused on furthering your learning and helping you explore new avenues. It also is a good program because it offers plenty of opportunities and produces great artists.
