Autumn Bohner (Class of 2021)
Blogger Role: On Campus Art News
Major: Graphic Design
I chose Marywood because I heard great things about the art department at Marywood. When I visited campus for the first time, everyone in the department was so welcoming and kind, I knew that Marywood was the type of community I wanted to become a part of.
I am majoring in Art because Art is what makes me happy. Graphic Design was my favorite class in high school. As I began senior year, I realized that I couldn’t give up art. So here I am!
When I’m not in class, I’m in the computer lab, hanging out with my friends, listening to music, or trying something new. My recent conquest was the ukulele. I love trying new things!
My favorite art class so far was Intro to Computer Graphics. I loved getting to do work within my major, and it was really neat to learn new techniques and get comfortable with new software programs.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was go on an Art department trip to the Met Museum in New York. Prior to that trip, I had only been to New York once, so it was amazing to get to experience the city. The Met was full of beautiful art, and I got to experience it all with my friends. It was so much fun!
When I graduate I want to either work with an advertising firm or do design work for a non-profit. Helping others is so important to me that working with a non-profit would be my dream!
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the Art Department is such a close community. You really get to know the students within the programs and you can really connect with your professors as well. The class sizes are small which allows for more individual time with the professors. This allows for awesome networking opportunities. The program offers great opportunities as well, from guest lectures to museum trips.
