I chose Marywood because I knew I wanted to find a school that offered a great art program, but also would provide me with a well-rounded general education.  I visited Marywood in the fall of my senior year and really liked the art buildings and the professors I met.  After that visit, I knew this was the place for me.

I am majoring in Art because it has always been a dream of mine to build my artistic skills to a higher level. I found a love for art at a very young age.   I also tend to be a quieter person and art has been a way for me to open up, express myself, and communicate with the world. I have a strong desire to immerse myself in art and love being around it and learning.

When I’m not in class, I’m painting in my dorm room with the easel I hide behind my closet, but don’t worry, I cover up the carpet!

So far, my favorite art class at Marywood was Art History 1 and Basic Drawing because I like working from live models and learning about the different ways artists worked in the past.

The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was The Field trip to the MET in the fall. I loved having so much time to explore the museum freely and see the pieces that we learned about in art history class.

When I graduate, I want to exhibit and sell as much work as possible, and eventually become an art professor teaching painting.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because Marywood is a smaller university, you are able to get to know other art students and your professors very well, and this makes the environment more welcoming and comfortable
