Kira Karboski (Class of 2019)
Blogger Role: Printmaking
Major: Illustration
Minors: Graphic Design, Art History
I chose Marywood because I wanted to live at home (Scranton native, born and raised!) and my mom is an Alumni! For as long as I can remember, she has spoken highly of Marywood. They also have one of the best art programs in the area and an absolutely beautiful campus.
I am majoring in Art because… it sounds so cliche, but I’ve been creating art since I could hold a pencil. I’ve always had a fascination with art and would really love to pursue it after I leave Marywood.
When I’m not in class, I’m either working on an art project at home, watching The Office, hanging out with my cats, or getting bubble tea and macarons from downtown Scranton!
My favorite art class so far was definitely printmaking! I fell in love with it when I realized there were so many different things you could do with it.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was go to Venice and Padua for spring break 2018! It was an amazing time, and my first time abroad. I saw a lot of amazing art and architecture and I hope I can go back to Italy soon!
When I graduate I think I want to work for the Disney company in some way! I was extremely lost my sophomore year and had no idea what I wanted to do after I graduated, but I think I figured it out after taking the Fall 2017 semester off to do the Disney College Program.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the small classes are amazing and really help me learn better. I never would be able to learn in a huge class! Also, the professors are extremely helpful and nice.
