Blogger Role: Graphic Design

Major: Graphic Design

Minor: Business Management

I chose Marywood because I was in love with the campus the moment I visited. Everyone here was welcoming and kind. I knew that Marywood could be my home away from home. Being a part of a small school helps you grow as an individual. I love that you get to know so many people on a personal basis and can go to anyone for help.

I am majoring in Art because I absolutely love how free it is. With the education you receive at Marywood University, everyone learns the same thing, but everybody’s work is unique. It is amazing how such diverse art work can come from the same education.

When I’m not in class, I’m spending hours on netflix, probably binge watching New Girl or glued to my phone. I absolutely love Pinterest so I am most likely saving pins for inspiration. Technology aside, I love being active, whether its hiking, working out or playing soccer, I like to stay fit and enjoy the outdoors.

My favorite art class so far was Digital Photography. I absolutely loved learning how to photograph and edit images in Photoshop, along with adding graphic elements. It was really cool to see how photographs can affect a design and has definitely has inspired my style of work.

The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was all of the fun trips you get to go on and the guest speakers. I’ve gone to many museums and bus trips to Philadelphia and New York. Learning about artworks then going to see them was a really cool aspect. Along with that I like how the professors bring guest speakers in to talk to us students. Seeing their design process and approach to art is really cool to see.

When I graduate I plan to hit the ground running and get a job within my field. During that I plan to complete my Bachelors of Business Management by taking classes while working. I hope to be working for an advertising company, where I can create designs for them and possibly do some photography.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because it is an amazing experience. You learn so much and have great professors to guide you along the way. Marywood is like a little home for everyone and everyone treats you like family. The art program is outstanding and you can tell everyone is ready to help you become the designer or artist you want to be.
