I chose Marywood because I fell in love with the art department as soon as I stepped into Insalaco. Looking through all the studio rooms, I gained a new passion for art and knew immediately that I wanted to come to this school to study my passion. The atmosphere around campus as well as the teachers and faculty were very welcoming and I decided I wanted to spend the next four at this school.
I am majoring in Art because I enjoy experiencing the art around me whether it’s nature, buildings, or art in museums. Majoring in art, I can learn more and be able to create and share my art. Art is an outlet for me and is also a way of life I love that I wish to continue in a career some day
When I’m not in class, I’m either hanging out with friends, finishing projects, drinking tea, or watching anime. Whenever a new opportunity comes my way in my free time, I always take a chance to experience something new to keep me busy. I also love making new friends even though I’m shy so if you see me around campus, don’t hesitate to say “hi.”
My favorite art class so far was my 3D class with Dennis Corrigan. Most of my friends are in that class and we are able to work on interesting projects while socializing. I enjoy working with my hands which is a major part of this class. Even though my work is mainly two-dimensional, I like the change of having a three-dimensional class which allows me to think outside of an 8.5×11 or 18×24 piece of paper.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far I had the opportunity to go to Philadelphia two days in a row. My friends at the time thought I was crazy going to the same city on two different trips two days in a row, but it was one of my best decisions. Being an art student I was able to go to a few art museums in the city and I enjoyed spending time with my friends as well as the wonderful food we tried. It was also my first time experiencing ramen that wasn’t instant and rolled ice cream which I highly recommend.
When I graduate I hope to find a job in a field I enjoy and continue making art in a career. Drinking life to the lees is another goal of mine. I want to experience as much as I can in as little amount of time as possible.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the teachers and faculty are incredibly helpful and friendly. I decided to pursue a field where I had little to no experience. Within the first few weeks I learned so much and I’m glad I decided to enter into the Art program at Marywood. The programs are very helpful when gaining experience in the art field and specifically your major. In my first year, I have learned some of the basics already of what I need to be a graphic designer.
