Raeanne Seliga (Class of 2020)
Blogger Role: On Campus Art News
Major: Illustration
Minors: Graphic Design and Painting
I chose Marywood because I wouldn’t have to travel far to get a great education for my major and I heard great things about the art department and Illustration program.
I am majoring in Art because when I am painting or drawing I feel challenged and happy. Art is something that will never get boring and I can see myself doing a job that I could love and never grow tired of.
When I’m not in class, I’m usually reading or watching cartoons. I like to paint pet portraits for my friends and family; I also like to paint scenes or landscapes. I’m always thinking of new projects and I am currently practicing my digital art.
So far, my favorite art class at Marywood was my General Illustration II class with Vince Bonavoglia. The class gave me the freedom to create art in any medium. I learned a lot from Vince, mostly that I am the one who makes the important decisions with my art. I hope to have a class with him again soon.
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was my artwork getting into the Bayleaf magazine. I am excited to show my family.
When I graduate I plan to get a job in the illustration field, my goal is to inspire children to read with artwork to help guide them and make reading interesting.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the program is designed to prepare students for what they may face once they graduate and the teachers are definitely always there for their students and they are willing to help them in any way they can.
