I chose Marywood because of so many reasons. I love the fact that its a small campus so my class sizes are never that big. Its not that far of a commute from where I live, and the Art Department is pretty incredible here. Its one of the few schools that would actually have a masters program for Graphic Design.
I’m majoring in Art because I love how creative it can be, its never something that has to be done a certain way. I love to create things even if it is something on a small scale like a little drawing or something in a big scale like a full on project that requires a lot of time either on my computer or doing it hands on.
When I’m not in class I’m doing probably trying to read through the current stack of books that I have piled up on my night stand or onto my newest DIY project that I have started.
My favorite art class hands down was my 3-D class in my freshman year. I absolutely loved that class because it was a class where I could get my hands dirty and actually create something completely hands-on away from my computer. I walked out of that class with so many amazing pieces, after taking that class I have been doing a lot of hands-on DIY’s. I’m currently renovating a tv armoire into a really cool bookcase!
The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was make this nice set of floating shelves in my 3-D class. They have this really nice rustic antique look. It was by far my most time consuming project in that class but totally worth it.
When I graduate I plan on moving down to New York and working at Disney in their Graphic Design Department.
I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because the teachers here are amazing. The classes are always so much fun and the size of classes are perfect. The classes are never huge so the time a teacher gets to spend on one person is awesome.
