I chose Marywood because I wanted to go to college close to home and the facilities at Marywood were breathtaking.  I fell in love with the studio spaces immediately during my tour and couldn’t wait to explore them.

I am majoring in Art because I was ready to go back to school to study something that was truly important to me and the Art Department at Marywood offered opportunities I wouldn’t have experienced had I not sought to further my education; being surrounded by people who are just as passionate as me about making art and education a part of their careers has given me the confidence to believe I can make something of myself.

When I’m not in class, I’m caring for my rescue cats!  A house full of senior cats and a pup will keep anyone busy but it’s worth it for the snuggles at the end of the day.

So far, my favorite art class at Marywood was Ceramics II.  There is never a dull moment in the ceramics studio and I feel like a more well-rounded artist after exploring classes that are so different from my major.

The coolest thing I’ve done at Marywood so far was, I suppose, objectively, learning to weld counts as pretty cool.  I am certainly not a natural but it was exciting to learn more about the equipment and explore my illustrations in a three dimensional art form.

When I graduate I want to have my own studio someday; that I may support myself as an artist (with the pie in the sky goal of becoming someone somebody would want to learn from).

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because my professors here have been some of the most encouraging I have experienced and have helped me to feel like I am in the right place.  I know the Marywood art department is the perfect fit because I feel that both my fellow students and my professors have my best interest at heart.
