Fashion in Nana

So if you’ve never heard of the show, Nana, well, today is a great day to discover what a great and beautiful show this is, because I just got done watching it, and let me just say…what the heck was that ending?! So if you don’t have much insight on the show, Nana, it is about two girls in their early 20’s who go through the challenges of adulthood, and let me just say I think everyone needs to see this show especially at the age we are in.

But enough about that overview, I wanted to talk about the art and fashion within the show. As you can see, it is heavily inspired by Vivienne Westwood, a famous British fashion designer and punk/new wave activist, and I must say I love the styles they give each character. For Nana O. they give her a punk vibe, considering she is a punk artist and she heavily relies on heavy makeup. I also really love how they gave her basically a much darker vibe in comparison to her friend Nana K., who is more of a girlier type of dress code, and she is also heavily influenced by Vivienne Westwood, but she goes around the softer side rather than what Nana O. wears.

This show loves color, especially when it comes to outfits, and the creator loves fashion design, so they had tons of fun designing these characters. If you love fashion design or anything Vivienne Westwood related, please watch this show or read the manga! Nana is one of those shows that will really make you contemplate life. It did for me after all, I want to try and dress more like Nana O. if I had the money for it lol! Well, there are tons of shows and movies as well that are heavily into fashion, like Cruella or The Devil Wears Prada (which, by the way, I cannot wait to see the sequel). Shows and movies like those can definitely influence the illustrator when making a design for a new character or even making a whole story. Well, I am sorry for rambling too much. I hope you like the show if you ever see it. As always, I will see you next time, and stay tuned for more!
