Recently on July 19th, famous hard-rock band, Ghost, made their way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to perform at the Wells Fargo Center.

Ghost is a Swedish band established in 2006. The main song-writer, singer and only permanent member, Tobias Forge, iconically takes on the persona of a satanic leader within a fictional clergy.

Currently, the band is on a world tour for their new album “Skeletá”. This brought in many changes within the band. The frontman changed from Papa Emeritus IV (now known as frater imperator) to Perpetua V. The band has also had some changes with their non-permanent members through the introduction of a new nameless ghoul. With everyone styling new looks, they’ve been overtaking concert halls and stadiums all over Europe and the United States.

I was blessed enough to attend one of these concerts with my dearest friend Erin.
The concert was spectacular! It was around two hours of non-stop fun. The music was beautifully performed, the songs were iconic, the outfits were sparkly and eye-catching, and the stadium was full of screaming fans. Their performance was accented by wonderful visuals and the commentary/jokes of Papa. The silly little interactions between all the members onstage was so nice to see.
I really adore how unique Ghost is. I’m not deeply informed on music composition but, you can just hear all the special details in every song. The guitar, the drums, the keytar, the bass – everything is so finely tuned and perfectly brought together to create such addictive music. And with Tobias’ beautiful vocals to bring it all together, it creates music like no other. I absolutely hate generic music. Why stick with the crowd when you can blow them away with something so special? Then comes in the satanic part of the band. This portion actually leads to a lot of storytelling and opportunities for interesting songs that other bands don’t explore. Of course, the band members themselves aren’t actually satanic, it’s simply their shtick.

Unfortunately, the only thing that annoyed me was the actual venue we saw the concert at. The stage was very small, lights and explosions were limited, the screens to see up close were tiny, and the actual sound quality ended up sounding muffled or quiet at times.
If Ghost ever tours again, I’m definitely going to be in attendance and I think you should consider checking out their music in the mean time! I’m not a super huge fan of their newest album but every other album is a genuine banger. I especially like Impera and Infestissumam!!
