Shell painting!

Hi friends! I hope you are all having a fantastic summer so far, I can’t believe how fast it’s flying by. Before we know it, we’ll be back at school!

I’ve been lucky enough to get to the beach a couple of times this summer and that is what inspired today’s post. When I go to the beach, I like to look for seashells and occasionally take a few home with me. This hobby has led to a little collection of beautiful shells that I like to incorporate into my artwork every now and then.

Recently, I took a look at the shells I’ve acquired over the years and picked out the biggest ones. I decided to use them as jewelry dishes! I had seen other people do this before and thought it’d be fun to find a way to utilize them. The inspiration pictures I saw online all had a metallic rim painted around the edge, so I decided to use gold paint to recreate this effect. Once the paint was dry, I coated the inside of each shell with Mod Podge to give it a glossy, finished look.

This simple DIY project was not only relaxing but also super rewarding. I love how the shells turned out—each one is unique and has its own little imperfections that make it special. Now they’re displayed on my dresser, holding my rings, earrings, and other tiny keepsakes. I’m so excited to keep making more!

That’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed reading!
