Last week I went to the coolest art exhibit I have ever been to in my entire life, and I am not exaggerating in the slightest. It is called XYZT: Abstract Landscapes, and it is by Adrien M and Claire B. The artists describe it as a “virtual playground of four dimensions: X (horizontal), Y (vertical), Z (depth), and T (time)”. It is currently on display at the Artechouse in Washington D.C., right outside the National Mall area. Artechouse just opened up in June, and it features exhibits that incorporate art, science, and technology together.

I spent over an hour at the exhibit, although I definitely could have spent the entire day in there. Every piece of artwork is interactive with your body, and they are all made up of nothing but lights on a screen or on the floor. The entire room was pitch black except for the lights of all the displays. I got some pretty trippy photos out of the experience, and they almost look unreal.

There was a carpet made up of straight lights that when you walked on it, it would move and change with your every step. They kind of looked like puddles or wave ripples.

There were also a bunch of screens that would react when you moved your arms and body in front of them.

I got some cool pictures at this one enclosed area with three walls of screens with changing light patterns on it as well.

Unfortunately, I had a major issue with my phone and ended up losing a bunch of other photos I had taken of the exhibit, but I’m not too disappointed because it was definitely an experience I will remember. I really can’t wait to go back and see what other exhibits they will have in there in the future.
