I’m going to come right out and say I have never been good at managing my time. It is just too easy to lose track of time and forget to do things like, I don’t know, homework and projects. Unfortunately, there’s no surefire way to just become a good time manager, but there is some advice I can bestow upon you.
Give yourself a head start. Your graphic design classes are three hours long. Take advantage of this. Work as much as you can in classes so you don’t have to stress the night before the due date.
Create a schedule for yourself. Map out the amount of time you want to work on each part of the project. Say you’re working on a website, give yourself allotted times for each step: the research, the design, then the coding. Make sure you stick to this schedule. It truly will help you in the long run.
Avoid Tumblr, Netflix, etc. Seriously. Block them from your computer if you have to. They suck up your time and leave you pulling an all nighter to finish your project.
Reward yourself. This is obviously the best part and probably the most important. After you’ve finished what you’ve decided to do for the day, relax! Sit back and watch as much Netflix as you want.
And there you have it! It will take some mistakes and a few late nights to realize you need to manage time, but once this has happened hopefully these tips will be helpful to you! What do you do to help manage time?
Perfect! Netflix is no longer allowed in my office, I start out designing a menu and then all of a sudden I’m three series into fringe and haven’t even given the file a name! I use trello for planning and list making with projects. Works a treat.
