Recently during the fall 2024 semester, Marywood’s Art Department unveiled a new logo. Created by graphic design student Julia Perpetua, the new logo went through several different revisions, but eventually, both she and the art department came up with a final design.
the final logo
Julia mentioned that she originally started sketching the logo using a pencil in her sketchbook. She also mentioned that she started brainstorming ideas as to how to represent the logo in shapes, colors, and even the rotation of the type.

For the final design, Julia mentioned that the logo was never a sketch to start with. She ended up getting the final design by building off of a different concept.
She felt that the circles were too much, so she started to wonder what it would look like if she scrapped them and focused on the typography. After the concepts without the circles, and after a few tweaks to the design, she ended up with the final logo that the Art Department decided to approve.
Overall, the finished logo looks very clean and simple. Good job Julia!
