For the last 6 years I have poured every ounce of my energy into my dream of becoming a fashion designer. This past weekend I have been given the honor of taking the next step. On Saturday night I received my letter of acceptance from Parsons: The New School for undergraduate study in fashion design for the Fall 2015 semester. Finally after 6 years of hard work, it’s finally starting to pay off. Words cannot even begin to describe my excitement and feeling of relief.
The point behind this post is not to say my goodbyes and talk about another university, but rather to extol Marywood for all it has done for me along the way. The art department here at Marywood has helped me immensely. I honestly do not think I could have accomplished this goal without the encouragement, knowledge, and support of the wonderful faculty and the stellar facilities. Never once in my time here was I told that I could not do something. My wildest sculptural ideas have come to life over the past 2 years and I truly have fallen in love with my major. Sculpture has become such a large part of me and my work and I wouldn’t have it any other way. And for this I am eternally grateful.
Marywood has been the greatest and most useful stepping stone that I could have ever asked for. My creative mind had been nurtured and had grown more than I could have imagined. Attending this fantastic university will never be something that I regret. I have never felt more prepared to take any challenge I am faced with head on. I highly recommend Marywood to anyone who has a desire to be an artist in any field. The experience that will come out of any number of years spent here is absolutely priceless.
