Allyson Hawk (Class of 2016)

Major: Graphic Design

I chose Marywood because the second I walked onto campus, I felt like I was home. Knowing class sizes were really small helped, too.

I am majoring in Art because my entire life I’ve felt the happiest when I was creating things. I can’t imagine doing anything else with my education or life.

When I’m not in class, I’m searching Pinterest for any sort of DIY project I can actually afford. I love to keep my creativity flowing with tons of little projects. Or, you know, napping or watching Netflix.

My favorite class was my Graphic Design I class. We had a lot of really fun projects including re-branding, book layouts and board game design.

The coolest thing I’ve done so far was a Taylor Swift book cover I made. Not gonna lie, it turned out pretty cool and she’d definitely love it. This project helped me find out I really enjoyed designing book covers.

When I graduate, well, the ultimate goal is be a Disney Princess. If I can’t get that, though, I’d love to just be a Graphic Designer for Disney and create things like brochures and maps.

I’d recommend the Art program at Marywood because I haven’t had an art class here that didn’t help me discover a new talent. All of the teachers are so helpful and encouraging and with the small class sizes, you really become close to the people around you. We all help each others creativity flow.
