Hello everyone! I hope you are all enjoying your summers so far! As for my summer, I’ve been trying to implement art into each of my days to work on improving my skills and dedicating more time to my passions. That being said, I’ve been doing ALOT of painting. I recently completed a rather interesting painting so I thought I’d share that here!
A couple summers ago, I took an old cabinet in my basement and spruced it up a bit by painting a mural on it. I used acrylic paint to create a medium blue background with bright yellow sunflowers on it. This summer, I decided to paint another mural on the cabinets next to the sunflower one. This one was a bit tricky as the cabinets are made up of two doors rather than one. When I took the doors off, I realized that I had to paint them directly next to each other and treat them as one big canvas instead of painting them individually. However, I also had to be careful in making sure the paint wouldn’t fuse the doors together. I again used acrylic paint, but this time applied it directly to the doors instead of dipping my brushes in it. I used a variety of warm toned reds, oranges, yellows, and pinks to create the sunset background. Once there were dollops of paint all over the surface, I used a large brush in horizontal motions to blend the colors together. After that was completed, I traced out the lines for the waves and the sun. I then painted those and outlined them with posca paint pens. Next I sealed the doors with modpodge.
I’m super happy with how this turned out! As you might remember, I absolutely love ocean themed art and bright colors so this piece is truly exactly what I wanted for the space it’s in. That’s all for today! I hope you enjoyed reading about a super fun way to give your cabinets a makeover!!

Fantastic! It looks great in that space!
Love them, they look great. So much fun 🙂
