Children’s Book Illustration

Hey guys! This week we worked on creating children’s book art in my Digital Illustration class. It was really fun and I learned a lot because it helped me work on not only my style for digital paint, but also to understand more about lighting.

We made sure to have a large source of light, and a secondary source as well. When mixed together, I had a star as my main source of light, and I had a lot of fun trying to see how the star’s light would bounce off of certain objects. We also had to work on making sure that the piece had a left-to-right legibility, so that way it would urge the reader to turn the page, and thus continue the story.

Over all this was a very fun project, and definitely touched on things I want to do when I graduate, so it was a very cool experience. Here’s some of my pieces, I made two because I loved doing them so much! My favorite one is the sand picture because it has my favorite color combo of purple and yellow! I chose a messy painterly style because it was the more fun style to do, but I may very well just change things around as well!

That’s all for this week, I’ll keep you all posted on the progress of this, I may very well do the whole book! Until next week, keep on creating!
