Hello everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your summers, and hopefully enjoying the weather. For me, it has been kind of windy, but overall has been nice enough not to wear a jacket. I finally got outside since it was nice out, so I decided to add nature into my artwork this week.
As a kid, I went to camp, and we would take leaves that we found outside and color the design on paper. That’s exactly what I decided to do. If you’re not sure of what this process entails, well you’re in the right place!
Steps for this project:
- Pick out leaves or flowers of your choosing! (amount and size are up to you)
- Place them under a piece of paper on a flat surface, making a composition you like
- In my case, I added leaves and changed where they were placed
- Take a crayon and color over the leaves on the paper (crayons are a more efficient medium for this project)
- This should leave a design of the leaves that is under the paper

For the second page, I just colored the front and back of each leaf, but then I decided to add more colors and change the placement of each leaf with each color.

I feel like I wanted to start off the Summer with something relaxing before it gets crazy when I start work. One phrase that I hear people say when kids get out of school for the Summer is, “go outside and touch some grass,” and that is what I did. I can’t wait to see what other arts and crafts I do over the Summer to share with you all!
Have a great Summer, and maybe go outside and touch some grass too!
